What Retailers Should Know About the South Dakota v. Wayfair Ruling and New Sales Tax Laws

This is a virtual event, accessible online and over the phone. Access instructions will be provided after registration.

This is a complimentary program sponsored by Avalara.

With Cyber Week on the horizon, ecommerce retailers need to know about the new sales tax laws making their way across the U.S. this year. Because of the Supreme Court’s decision in South Dakota v. Wayfair, many retailers are now obligated to register and remit sales tax in many states they’ve never considered. Even without a physical presence, like a remote employee or satellite office, the number of transactions or volume of sales can warrant an obligation to collect sales tax. This concept is known as economic nexus.

Attend our 60-minute webinar with leading tax experts to learn which states have economic nexus laws and how they’re being enforced. You’ll also learn how retailers can ensure they are prepared to comply with them.

Educational Objectives:

• Understand how the Supreme Court ruling and economic nexus laws change sales tax obligations for retailers
• Gain up-to-date information about the newest sales tax laws and thresholds
• Learn best practices in compliance with regards to economic nexus

Who would benefit most from attending this program?

Executives, directors, managers, and counsel working with tax issues within corporations that participate in the retail industry, as well as tax and accounting professionals advising those retailers.
