A recent study by Bloomberg Tax revealed diversity and inclusion, while highly valued, is not yet at desired levels across many accounting firms and corporations. The question for many tax departments is what else can be done to improve diversity and inclusion in the workforce. In this study, half of tax departments indicated that their main challenge in this area is a limited pipeline of top talent.

Lisa Fitzpatrick

Lisa Fitzpatrick is President of Bloomberg Tax. In this position, she is responsible for driving the growth of the company’s tax, accounting, and payroll products, including the Bloomberg Tax platform.

Fitzpatrick joined the company in 2008 as Director of Marketing for the Tax & Accounting division, where she led product management and marketing efforts for a number of successful new product launches in state and international tax areas. In 2011, Fitzpatrick was appointed Bloomberg BNA’s first Chief Marketing Officer, where she centralized and improved the effectiveness of Bloomberg BNA’s marketing efforts and led overall branding strategy and product positioning. She most recently served as Vice President & General Manager of Bloomberg Tax.

Prior to BNA, Fitzpatrick held roles as Vice President of Marketing at and Marketing Director at Thompson Publishing Group, where she launched several new regulatory compliance products in the financial and healthcare areas. Previously, Fitzpatrick founded and launched German Life magazine, a special interest magazine featuring German culture, history, travel, and German influences in North America. She began her career in circulation and advertising sales roles for special interest magazines.

Fitzpatrick has a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and received an MBA in finance and marketing from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland.

Ethel “EJ” Dickerson joined PwC in 2004 and has extensive experience including talent acquisition, diversity and inclusion, developing and implementing people strategy, change management, coaching and development, performance management, compensation planning, campus and experienced recruiting, corporate responsibility and global mobility. 

EJ has a passion for helping to develop leaders at all levels. She is a trusted business adviser to partners and staff in working toward reaching recruiting, business and people experience objectives. 

Currently, EJ leads a national team responsible for driving and executing on the diversity recruiting objectives across the U.S Firm.

EJ attended the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (IPEC) to obtain her coaching certification and is certified through The Leadership Circle. She was also recognized as the 2015 Outstanding Business Leader by the Washington Metro chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA).
