Ezra Crawford

Ezra Crawford is a Director in the Practice Group Business Development & Management department at Crowell & Moring LLP. In that role, he works with individual lawyers and practice groups to develop and execute on business development strategies. He is also responsible for group level KPIs, reporting, and other business and financial management activities. 

Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Ezra worked at a legal consulting firm, served as the Director of Marketing and Business Development at an Am Law 200 law firm, and in senior practice group business development roles at two Am Law 100 firms. Before entering legal marketing, he was a financial consultant with Riggs Securities and Salomon Smith Barney. Ezra served on International Board of Directors of the Legal Marketing Association from 2015-2016 and was the president of the Capital Chapter in 2012. He is currently serving as a member of the LMA Advocacy Advisory Council and as the co-chair of Professional Advocacy Working Group.

Alina Gorokhovsky

Alina has more than 20 years of diverse U.S. and international experience building and leading creative service-oriented marketing and business development teams, developing and executing global strategic plans, managing law firm mergers and acquisitions--from identifying prospects to due diligence, negotiations and integration-- and designing targeted and innovative brand campaigns and marketing programs.  As one of the first legal industry chief strategy officers, Alina is considered to be a tactical thought leader skilled in identifying opportunities for significant ROI through new products and services, focused client outreach campaigns, and strategies linked to metrics-driven branding, business development, social media, digital marketing, public relations, and community engagement efforts.  Working globally, she has managed large-scare projects, complex client engagements, and facilitated more than 200 corporate and law firm strategy retreats, public policy conferences, and business development events in the United States, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Cyprus, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Kazakhstan, Russia, Spain, South Korea, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom.  

Prior to joining Wiley Rein, Alina was the Chief Strategy Officer for McKenna Long & Aldridge, where she led all merger and acquisition efforts, lateral growth strategy, marketing, business development, public relations, social media, client service and strategic efforts.  Alina started her career in the legal industry as a business development director

Kate Stoddard

As CMO of Kelley Drye, Kate Stoddard is responsible for the firm’s business development strategy and the creation of branding, marketing, public relations and communications programs.  She works with the firm’s Executive Committee, managing partners, practice group leaders and other firm leadership to design and launch meaningful business development initiatives.  As a member of the firm’s senior administrative leadership team, Kate acts both as an adviser to attorneys pursuing specific business development opportunities and on general management decisions.

Kate directs the firm-wide marketing team, promoting a collaborative work environment and the sharing of resources and knowledge across offices and practice areas.  During her near-decade at Kelley Drye, she has expanded the marketing and business development department, formalized the firm’s marketing infrastructure by employing CRM technology, and led a rebranding initiative that captures the spirit and culture of Kelley Drye through a new visual identity, enhanced website experience and fresh collateral materials.  Whether through client service initiatives behind the scenes or through outward-facing communications campaigns, Kate trumpets Kelley Drye’s reputation as a powerhouse firm with the heart of a boutique.

Kate earned an MBA from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland and a BA from Georgetown University.

Carl Sussman

Carl Sussman is Commercial Director for Bloomberg Law at Bloomberg BNA. He has more than a decade of experience in legal technology at BBNA and parent company Bloomberg LP, including product development, editorial and client relationships. Prior to joining Bloomberg, Carl spent several years as a practicing attorney in New York City, focusing on civil and white collar criminal litigation in the financial services industry at the firms Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, and Lankler Siffert & Wohl LLP. Carl was graduated with a degree in political science from Brown University and a JD from Harvard Law School.
