Using Big Data to Avoid Big Compliance Problems in Health Care: Proactive Applications of Data Analytics in Your Compliance Program

This is a virtual event, accessible over the phone. Access instructions will be provided after registration.

In the days leading up to Trump’s inauguration in 2017, many in the healthcare industry wondered how the new administration would change the course of the industry. Enforcement actions over the past year have shown that one thing that hasn’t changed during the tumultuous Obama-Trump transition is the government's dedication to combatting healthcare fraud. Moreover, the government is increasingly using data analytics technology in fraud investigations to mine claims data for potential bad actors. Clearly, it’s as important as ever that health care organizations take proactive steps toward mitigating compliance risks.

Jason Mehta and Dan Murphy, partners with Bradley Arant Boult Cummings, will discuss the emerging role of data analytics in prospectively identifying potential regulatory or prosecutorial issues -- before the government comes knocking. Jason will share his perspective as a former federal prosecutor on how the government is using data to identify and build cases. Dan will share his extensive healthcare experience to identify particular trends and patterns that might stand out as potential red flags. Together, Dan and Jason will share practical tips for harnessing the power of your data today to prevent prosecutorial scrutiny tomorrow.
