Venue

This is a virtual event, accessible online and over phone. Access instructions will be provided after registration.

Description

This is a complimentary program sponsored by DecisionQuest.

As the opioid crisis continues to ravage communities across the United States, local, state, and federal government attorneys have begun to focus on the role of the pharmaceutical industry in the creation of this epidemic.  The industry currently faces hundreds of lawsuits from governments and plaintiffs’ firms who want pharmaceutical companies, drug distributors, and drug retailers to help bear some of the financial burden that has been inflicted upon communities as a result of this epidemic.

DecisionQuest, the nation’s leading and most scientifically rigorous jury research firm, recently conducted a national poll of 1,200 potential jurors in order to gain insight into the likely reaction of juries to this upcoming wave of litigation.  In addition, DecisionQuest conducted an on-line focus group specifically in order to gain further knowledge of the motivations and beliefs underlying the data.

In this complimentary one-hour webinar, Jeffrey N. Herman, Esq., Executive Vice President at DecisionQuest and head of the Boston research team, will share his insights from his practice as a jury consultant for over 30 years as well as walk the audience through DecisionQuest’s findings regarding jurors’ views of the opioid epidemic and their opinions as to the causes of and the responsibility for this ongoing crisis.

Educational Objectives:
Webinar participants will learn the following:
• What are jurors’ personal experiences with opioid addiction and level of knowledge about the current crisis
• How do jurors feel about opioid medications and their manufacturers
• Do jurors view pharmaceutical manufacturers, drug distributors, and drug retailers as largely being responsible for the opioid epidemic
• What role do jurors feel doctors, the FDA, and opioid addicts themselves played in the creation of this crisis
• Taking account of current juror opinions and attitudes, what are potentially useful jury selection and trial strategies in opioid cases
